Reporting on Student Suspensions and Expulsions

BCCPAC request the Minister of Education to propose an amendment to the School Act making it mandatory for Boards of Education to keep a record and report all district student suspensions and permanent expulsions from school or district and provide this information on a regular basis to the Ministry of Education, District Achievement Committees and School Planning Councils. Reporting will be categorized by school, number of actual students, length of suspension, reason for suspension, number of permanent expulsions from school or district, and total number of suspension days per month. BCCPAC further request this information to be included in the B.C. K to 12 education system annual report.
